IL PASSATORE
Have you ever wondered who were the ancient "criminals" of our area?
Today we talk about Stefano Pelloni, one of the most famous brigands from Romagna.
Born in 1824 and the last of ten children, he is remembered with the nickname "The Passer".
How does the story start?
In the summer of 1833, his mother decided to take him to the thermal waters of Rioli, where he frequented people of high social class, thus beginning to manifest his "vocation".
At 18 he commits the first theft of rifles, to the detriment of a group of labourers!
He puts together a group, with which he begins to shoot throughout the Romagna, hitting the citizens and the landowners.
He was imprisoned several times, managing to escape; he was sentenced in 1845 by the court of Ferrara, where he did not get out until his death.
THE GANG
In 1847 he formed the band "Mansada" or "Banda del Passatore", of which he was a leader for the cruelty with which he acted.
The group regrouped according to the robbery and then melted.
How did they work?
They entered the walls to take hostages of the most important citizens.
Once the hostages were taken, they entered the houses to take possession of their belongings, and then show off what they had accumulated publicly!
