THE NASONI - THE ROMAN PUBLIC FOUNTAINS
The Nasoni were built at the end of the 19th century, after the unification of Italy.
The shape suggests that of an elongated and funny nose, thanks to which tourists can refresh themselves after long walks and children can enjoy playing with water.
At the time, they were forged in cast iron, in fact they had a different shape than today.
The old examples are found in Piazza del Pantheon, in via San Teodoro and in Via delle Tre Cannelle.
Roman public fountains are famous throughout the world and we find 2,500 fountains in the city, an important number because it makes the Italian capital the city with the largest number of fountains in the world.
