MARIA CECCARINI
Because the central street of Riccione is called Ceccarini, or the hospital has the same name, or the kindergarten?!
...
Maria Wheeler Boorman was born in America in 1840, into a wealthy family.
In the sixties she met Giovanni Ceccarini, doctor and future husband.
After getting married, the couple moved to Rome, for the profession of man.
They decided to build a holiday villa in Romagna!
They come into contact with the precarious condition in which Riccione was, and decide to give their contribution.
After the death of her husband, Ceccarini decided to be more present for the city, funding the popular library.
In 1892 she created the "Ceccarini" childhood garden, still present and, later, she contributed to the foundation of the hospital, dedicated to her husband.
She has been a prominent figure for the improvement of our Riccione, she is recognized many titles, including honorary citizenship.
