JOVANOTTI
Lorenzo Cherubini was born in September 1966 in Rome, where from a very young age he gave vent to his passion for music by working as a DJ in various radio stations and discos. It was Claudio Cecchetto who discovered him and took him with him to Radio Deejay, where he would become "Jovanotti".
Son of Mario and Viola Cherubini, he was born in the capital and is the third of four brothers; his family is originally from Cortona, a small town in the province of Arezzo. This ancient city will have an important role in Lorenzo's life: in fact, he will return there often throughout his life and currently lives there permanently after marrying his lifelong companion Francesca Valiani in September 2008. The two also have a daughter, Teresa, born on December 13, 1998, to whom the singer-songwriter dedicated the huge success "Per Te".
The eclectic boy recorded his first rap singles at 19 and in 1989 he participated in his first Sanremo Festival with "Vasco", a single from the album "La mia moto", which sold 600,000 copies, making him a success.
In 1992 he took part in the comedy Parenti serpenti, with his famous "Muoviti, muoviti". This same year also saw the first album not signed with the name "Jovanotti", probably with the intent of signaling the discontinuity with his origins; the album contained numerous songs that became famous, including "Non m'annoio" and "Ragazzo fortunate".
In 1994 "Lorenzo 1994" was released, which represented a fundamental step in Jovanotti's journey, thanks also to the overwhelming success of the singles "Penso positivo", "Piove" and "Serenata rap", which was the most played video in Europe and South America. The following year, a new single was released, a great success, "L'ombelico del mondo", with which Jovanotti also participated in the MTV Music Awards.
For the 2005 album, "Buon sangue", Jovanotti availed himself of the collaboration of prestigious colleagues such as Edoardo Bennato and Planet Funk, and jumped to first place in the charts, driven by the success of the singles "(Tanto)3", "Mi fido di te" and "Falla gira".
His dedication to cinema finds its continuity in the collaboration with Gabriele Muccino, who for the sequel to L'ultimo bacio, commissioned him a song that was melancholic and effective: the result is Baciami ancora, the musical theme of the film of the same name.
