DIGA DI RIDRACOLI
The Ridràcoli dam is a gravity-arc dam that blocks the course of the Bidente river near the village of Ridracoli in Bagno di Romagna, forming the homonymous artificial lake.
It is one of the largest and most important dams in Emilia Romagna.
It is 103 and a half meters high, with a maximum width of 36 meters at the base, on the upper walkway the width is, instead, only 10 meters. The arc length is 432 meters, for a total of 600 000 cubic meters and concrete.
The structure is spread in width on 27 ashlars laid on a pulvino that follows the profile of the dam, with varying thickness.
In the right shoulder of the dam there are the water intake systems, which is then sent to the aqueduct that feeds the coast of Romagna. The water is taken from two inlets 50 meters apart, to optimize the temperature and turbidity of the water.
The Romagnolo aqueduct has a main line of 33 kilometers, capable of 3000 liters per second. It is managed by Romagna Acque S.p.A. and reaches fifty municipalities between the provinces of Ravenna, Forlì Cesena, Rimini and the Republic of San Marino.
In all, it supplies water to about a million people.
The dam of Ridracoli offers not only "land" recreation: spring and summer are the ideal seasons to get on the electric boat with a guided tour on board, or take a canoe ride or practice sport fishing!
