CATHOLIC AQUARIUM
The particular structure that now houses the Cattolica Aquarium was originally a large marine colony built in the 1930s with a curious and unusual shape that recalled the profile of a naval fleet; was inaugurated on June 28, 1934 as a marine colony "XXVIII October". The features of this building represent ships ready to sail and for this reason the aquarium has taken on the name "Le Navi".
In 2000, thanks to a detailed conservative restoration, it was completely renovated, transforming itself into one of the most fascinating and spectacular marine parks in the Adriatic.
Visitors who enter the aquarium are magically transported into a unique universe, full of charm and mystery. Here they will have an unforgettable multi-sensory experience as they cross paths in which intricate labyrinths and underground passages intertwine for a total area of over 110,000 square metres.
The inscrutable secrets of the world's seas and oceans are kept in over 100 tanks that house more than 10,000 marine animals.
Here you will admire hundreds of aquatic and terrestrial species among which sharks, penguins, turtles and jellyfish stand out.
New fish of a thousand colors, in thematic tanks that reproduce the marine ecosystems of the Mediterranean, tropical seas and the Red Sea, the coral reef and freshwater river courses.
